A traditional Italian Carnival dessert, creamy and smooth, made with milk, cocoa, and dark chocolate, flavored with cinnamon and pine nuts. This version omits the traditional pig blood.

Ingredients

- Floursifted
- Unsweetened Cocoasifted
- Sugar
- Soft Buttersoft
- Dark Chocolatechopped
- Ground Cinnamon
- Pine Nutssome for decoration
Method
- Sift together cornstarch and flour into a bowl.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, the sifted starches (cornstarch and flour), and cinnamon. Mix well.
- Add a little cold milk and stir until the mixture becomes slightly stiff.
- Add the remaining milk and pour everything into a small saucepan.
- Place over heat, add chopped dark chocolate, and stir constantly with a whisk.
- Continue stirring until the sauce thickens to the desired consistency.
- When thick enough, add some pine nuts and mix.
- Add soft butter and stir for a glossy finish.
- Let cool with plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
- Decorate with a few more pine nuts on top. Serve.
