Mozzarella in Carrozza

Classic Italian fried mozzarella sandwich, crispy on the outside and meltingly soft inside. Perfect as an appetizer or snack.

Ingredients
8 items- Pane BiancoSoft white bread; 1 slice per sandwich
- MozzarellaFresh mozzarella, sliced or torn
- EggsFor the egg wash and breading
- MilkA splash, added to beaten eggs
- SaltTo taste
- PepperTo taste
- BreadcrumbsFine breadcrumbs for coating
- Alice(optional) — Anchovy fillet, optional
Method
- Flatten a slice of white bread with a rolling pin slightly, then cut it in half diagonally.
- Place mozzarella in the center of one half and wet the edges with beaten egg. Optionally add an anchovy fillet.
- Cover with the other half and press the edges firmly to seal.
- Prepare a mixture of beaten eggs with a little milk, salt, and pepper.
- Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture, then coat it thoroughly with breadcrumbs, ensuring the edges are well covered.
- Refrigerate the mozzarella in carrozza for 2–3 hours so they become firm.
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Serve immediately.
