Fake Meat Rolls

A poor man's version of traditional braciole, made with a thin omelette rolled with parsley and pecorino, simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients
9 items- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 pcsGarlic
- 500 mlTomato Passata
- Saltto taste
- 4 pcsEgg
- Pepperto taste
- Pecorino Romanoto taste, grated
- Parsleyto taste, chopped
- Chili Pepper(optional) — optional, chopped
Method
- Crush one clove of garlic and sauté in a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
- Add the tomato passata, season with salt, cover, and let it simmer on low heat.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs with salt, pepper, and grated Pecorino Romano cheese.
- Cook a thin omelette (frittatina) in a non-stick pan until golden on both sides.
- Once the omelette is done, sprinkle it with chopped parsley and more Pecorino Romano. Optionally add chopped garlic and chili.
- Roll the omelette tightly into a log shape. If needed, secure with toothpicks.
- Add the rolled omelette to the simmering tomato sauce and let it absorb the flavors for a few minutes.
- Serve the fake meat rolls hot with plenty of sauce.
