Prosciutto Crostino

One of the most classic Roman appetizers, this crostino is simple yet delicious. Toasted bread with melted fior di latte cheese, topped with cured prosciutto and melted butter.

Ingredients
4 items- Homemade Bread3 slices, homemade style
- Fior di Lattefresh mozzarella, sliced
- Prosciutto Crudohigh-quality cured ham
- Buttermelted, to taste
Method
- Cut three slices of homemade-style bread (like casareccio).
- Place a slice of fior di latte cheese on each bread slice.
- Arrange the bread slices on a baking tray.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) on the middle rack for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted.
- Optionally, keep the bread in the turned-off oven with residual heat to create a crunchy crust.
- Remove the bread from the oven and top each with high-quality prosciutto crudo.
- Melt some butter and drizzle it over the prosciutto, letting it soak into the bread.
- Serve immediately.
