A simple Italian cookie made with wine, perfect for dipping in coffee or wine. These ciambelline are typical of the Roman countryside, with a crunchy sugar coating.

Ingredients
6 items- 275 gFlour
- 80 gGranulated Sugarplus extra for coating
- 100 gWhite Wineor red wine
- 100 gSunflower Oil
- 1 tspBaking Powder
- Salta pinch
Method
- Combine 80 g sugar, 100 g white wine, 100 g sunflower oil, 1 tsp baking powder, 250 g flour and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Mix with a fork.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth. Add more flour if sticky, up to 275 g total.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Line a perforated baking tray with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
- After resting, shape the dough into small rings: cut pieces, overlap the ends, press together, dip first in white wine then in granulated sugar.
- Place the rings on the prepared tray, spacing them apart. Adjust the center hole if needed.
- Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 25 minutes or until golden.
- Let the cookies cool completely at room temperature before serving. They are best enjoyed cold.
