A quick and flavourful Italian beef dish with tomatoes, olives, capers, and oregano, finished with fresh scallion. Perfect for a rustic weeknight dinner.

- 1 pcsOnionmedium onion
- Chili Pepperchili pepper to taste
- Olivesa handful
- Capersdesalted capers
- Vino Rosso (o Bianco)red preferred, white also works
- Tomato Passatatomato puree (pomì)
- Dried Oreganodried oregano
- Fresh Basilfresh basil
- 1 pcsFresh Spring Onionfresh scallion
- Saltto taste
- Olive Oilextra virgin olive oil, as needed
Method
- Season the beef strips with salt. Quickly sear them in a hot pan with a little oil, without overcooking. Remove the beef and set aside.
- In the same pan, add a drizzle of oil, two cloves of garlic (sliced), one chopped onion, and a chili pepper. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add a handful of olives and a few capers (previously desalted). Stir briefly.
- Pour in a glass of red wine (white wine also works) and let the alcohol evaporate.
- Add tomato passata (pomì), bring to a boil, then return the beef to the pan.
- Season with dried oregano and fresh basil. Cook for another minute.
- Finish with chopped fresh scallion. Serve immediately.
