The story

George Lobster, a fast-food lobster roll spot on Milan’s Via Ponte Vetero, has polarized local creators. xMurry calls it “overpriced and underwhelming,” while Franchino Er Criminale describes “rubbery seafood and soggy sides,” dismissing everything from the George Lobster Roll to the Lobster Nutella.

Yet Riccardo Dose, who spent over €150, found the concept “risky but original” and praised the Club Sandwich, Shrimp Roll, and especially the George Fez Roll with its spicy marinade. He noted most rolls taste similar and the toasts are let down by overpowering cheddar. The result is a tourist-friendly, no-reservations spot that can satisfy a craving for a photo op—and maybe a good roll—but often falls short on quality for the price.

What diners say

Synthesized from 24 Google reviews · tap an aspect for the detail

Diners consistently praise the quality and freshness of the seafood, especially the lobster rolls, which are described as delicious with soft, buttery bread. The friendly and helpful service is a highlight, with several staff members mentioned by name. While the food is well-regarded, some guests find the prices slightly high for the portion sizes, and a few note that certain dishes could use more seasoning or filling.

Lobster rolls and seafood quality

The lobster rolls are widely celebrated for their fresh, high-quality seafood and soft, buttery bread. Dishes like the George Roll, Crab Roll, and Little Italy Roll receive particular praise for being well-filled and flavorful.

Service and staff

Service is consistently described as friendly, efficient, and helpful. Several staff members, including Sergio and Andrea, are singled out for their kindness and willingness to explain the menu.

Value for money

Many diners feel the food is tasty and worth the price, but a recurring note is that prices are slightly high for a fast-casual concept, especially considering portion sizes. A few guests find it expensive for what they receive.

Atmosphere and location

The venue is described as cozy, well-decorated, and located in a great area (Brera). The ambiance is relaxed and inviting, though some mention it can get warm inside.

Sides and accompaniments

Fries, especially sweet potato fries, are frequently praised for being crispy and tasty. The coleslaw, however, receives mixed feedback, with some finding it underseasoned.

Consistency and seasoning

While most dishes are well-received, a few reviews note that certain items lack seasoning, such as the spicy lobster roll not being spicy or the coleslaw being bland. Portion sizes of lobster meat can sometimes be smaller than expected.

AI summary of what 18 dish mentions say about the food

The crab roll steals the show, a buttery, indulgent bite that reviewers call unforgettable. The overall vibe is pure, unpretentious seaside comfort done right.

This is the one with just lobster. There's a big piece on top, but inside the chopped lobster is very scarce — almost invisible. The texture is a bit rubbery, chewy. It could be treated better. For €22, it's disappointing.
Franchino Er Criminale👎
I had it pimped with lemon butter because I could choose between mayo or lemon butter, and I think lemon butter rocks. The look is really really nice. The butter is very strong and the lemon note is very pleasant. The bread is good, nice and crunchy outside. The lobster is a bit little, it's on top and then all this bottom part is just bread. Now I understand the price, so it's already a bit less. The flavour is okay, but honestly for €25 for the menu, it's expensive, guys, a bit expensive. I understand the raw material costs, but if they buy in bulk, they cut costs a lot. It's not as enjoyable as the sandwich from Nusdret yesterday, so if I had to choose, I'd go eat that one again. This one a bit less. It's a bit simple. The one I had in New York was more exciting, bigger, juicier, more filled. Even from Moocho's video I saw it much fuller. Nice, but not baller. Is it worth it? Maybe once for the experience, but I wouldn't go back.

A trendy lobster roll chain that looks great in social media posts but delivers disappointing, overpriced sandwiches with rubbery seafood and soggy sides.

This is the one with just lobster. There's a big piece on top, but inside the chopped lobster is very scarce — almost invisible. The texture is a bit rubbery, chewy. It could be treated better. For €22, it's disappointing.

    • Crab Roll

This is the crab one. Same trick as the lobster: a couple of pieces on top and some chopped crab underneath. It's a bit more generous with the filling, but the taste is very strange — sweet, weird. I really don't like it. It leaves a strong fishy aftertaste.

    • Sweet Potato Fries

The sweet potato fries are really soggy. The packaging traps steam, so they arrive completely limp and wet. The paper is soaked through, my hands are wet. They're penalized by the packaging.

    • Lobster Nutella

This is the Lobster Nutella — a brioche bun with two spoonfuls of Nutella inside. The bread is a bit hard. It does help clean the palate after the fish, but it's nothing special. You could make this at home.

    Loved

George Lobster is a risky but original fast-food concept focused on lobster rolls, with a beautiful California-themed packaging and a menu that ranges from amazing (Club Sandwich, Shrimp Roll, George Fez Roll) to repetitive (most rolls taste similar) — the standout is the George Fez Roll with its spicy marinade, while the toasts are let down by overpowering cheddar.

    Dishes mentioned

    • Club Sandwich Lobster

The bread is toasted and buttery, and the lobster inside is delicious — not too overpowering. It's incredible, really good. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10.

    • Golden Fries

The flavor is really good, not too salty, and they're not greasy. But they got a bit soggy from the condensation in the packaging — if they were hot they'd be super crunchy. I'd give them a 7.5.

    • Lobster Toast

The bread is soft and golden, like pancake bread, really good. But the cheese is too dominant and you can barely taste the lobster. It's not a failure, but it could be improved. I'd give it a 6.5.

    • Shrimp Roll

This is devastatingly good. The bread is amazing, the shrimp is perfectly balanced — not too sweet, not too savory. It's a really well-balanced sandwich. I'd give it an 8.5.

    • Yankee Roll

You can taste the celery and carrot, but the lobster is very prominent. The lemon mayonnaise is subtle. It's good, but I expected a bit more. I'd give it a 6.5.
