Privacy & how we treat data

Effective July 18, 2026. Written in plain language on purpose — this English text is the governing version.

The short version

We built ReTubeIt to organize public knowledge, not to harvest yours. You can use the whole site without an account. We don't sell personal data, we don't run ad trackers, and we keep what we do collect to the minimum the service needs.

What we collect, and why

  • Nothing, if you just browse. Public pages work without an account. We keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP, request path) for security and abuse prevention, and aggregate page-view counts that are not tied to you.
  • Account data, if you sign up. Authentication is handled by Clerk. We receive your name/username and email so features like saved places work. We never see your password.
  • What you send us.Contact messages and content reports (with the email you provide) are stored so we can reply and fix things. Both forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you're human.
  • Preferences.Your language and light/dark theme live in cookies/local storage on your device. That's what our cookies do — no advertising, no cross-site tracking.

Creator and venue data

The knowledge on ReTubeIt — places, dishes, recipes, quotes — is derived from publicly available creator videos and public sources (like published reviews), always with attribution and links back to the creator. Creator statistics shown (subscribers, views) are the public numbers of their own channels. If you are a creator or a venue owner and want something corrected or removed, contact us — we act quickly.

Where data lives

The site runs on Vercel; data is stored with Supabase (Postgres); authentication is by Clerk; the human-check on forms is by Cloudflare. Each processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We don't share personal data with anyone else.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion — deleting your account removes the personal data tied to it. Just write to us and a human will handle it. If you're in the EU/EEA, these are your GDPR rights; we honor the same standard for everyone, everywhere.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on the site; the effective date above always reflects the current version.
