The story

Tucked steps from Palazzo dei Normanni, Sfrigola has earned a devoted following with its arancine and a 4.5-star rating. Italyfoodprnsicilia noted the “crunchiest arancine breading I've had so far,” with traditional fillings that “reminded me of my grandmother's cooking.” The Frama Twins called it “one of the best spots in Palermo for arancine,” praising the thin, crunchy breading and delicious fillings.

The classic Arancina al Burro and Arancina con la Carne sit alongside regional nods like the Arancina alla Norma and Montagnola. Where The Foodies Go called Sfrigola “a specialist in arancine,” highlighting the traditional butter and meat versions as well as creative twists like a swordfish-and-mint arancina. This mix of reverence and playfulness—crisp golden shells, fillings both familiar and unexpected—makes Sfrigola a standout for Palermo’s quintessential street food in a straightforward, no-fuss setting.

Sfrigola’s arancina al burro earns rapturous praise for its crisp shell and molten, buttery center, while the overall vibe is one of unpretentious, soul-satisfying Sicilian comfort.

This one is very good too. You can feel the pepper much more because the butter arancina is more delicate, so the contrast stands out. It's good, but I think I preferred the ragù one. Still excellent though.
Frama Twins👍
This is the crunchiest breading I've had so far. The rice is yellow, and the filling is really creamy — I can really taste the ham.
Italyfoodprnsicilia👍
This arancina is very, very good — the rice grains are well separated, you can taste the saffron, quality mozzarella, quality rice. The classic ones are butter and meat, but here they also have swordfish, mint, mozzarella and other flavours. I tried the butter one and it's excellent.

Sfrigola is a specialist in arancine, right next to Palazzo dei Normanni — they make classic butter and meat versions plus creative twists like swordfish and mint, all excellent.

I didn't have time to turn on the camera for this one, but this arancina with swordfish and mint is also very good — a nice twist on the classic.
