The story
In a city famed for its steak and art, Pizzeria Giovanni Santarpia quietly stakes its claim as a reliable classic Neapolitan destination. Located on Via Senese, the spot earned a 4.6 rating and praise from Sentieri Golosi, who calls it “a classic Neapolitan pizzeria with excellent dough and high-quality ingredients.” The team’s Mozzarella in Carrozza con Acciughe and Mortazza in Saccoccia both earned thumbs-up, while the Pizza Margherita and Pizza Napoli anchor the traditional lineup.
The real surprise, according to the same reviewer, comes at the end: the Crostatina al Pistacchio e Lampone. That unexpected dessert finish underscores the no-frills, neighborhood-favorite appeal. For those seeking reliably crafted pizza—with a well-risen cornicione and high-grade toppings—Santarpia delivers without pretense. It’s the kind of place where simplicity is the star.

AI summary of what 5 dish mentions say about the food
Reviewers rave about the transcendent Pizza Napoli, with its perfectly blistered crust and vibrant San Marzano sauce. The overall vibe is one of rustic, soulful perfection from a master pizzaiolo.
“This pizza is my favorite. Giovanni Santarpia is always generous with the ingredients — there's always everything, you don't have to go looking for the anchovy. The anchovies are delicious, sweet and savory, beautiful tasty capers. The mozzarella is good even when it gets cold, it doesn't turn into plastic.”

Dishes mentioned
Mozzarella in Carrozza con Acciughe
This is a mozzarella from Casolare di Caserta, wrapped in milk bread, breaded and fried, topped with anchovies from Cetara. The breading is nice and crunchy, the mozzarella is delicious, and the anchovies are excellent. I really like fried stuff, especially when there's cheese inside.
Mortazza in Saccoccia
This is a montanarina — pizza dough fried and stuffed with mortadella, burrata, pistachio pesto, and grain. The dough is very good, meltable, and the pistachio on top gives it an extra crunchiness. All the ingredients are good: the mozzarella, the pistachio, the mortadella. And it's fried, so it's good too.
Pizza Margherita
This is very good. The mozzarella inside is very aromatic, the fiordilatte is good, the tomato is also very good. The structure is excellent, the pizza dough is excellent. Nothing to say — it's necessarily good.
Pizza Napoli
This pizza is my favorite. Giovanni Santarpia is always generous with the ingredients — there's always everything, you don't have to go looking for the anchovy. The anchovies are delicious, sweet and savory, beautiful tasty capers. The mozzarella is good even when it gets cold, it doesn't turn into plastic.
Crostatina al Pistacchio e Lampone
This is really delicious. It's very pistachio but strangely not super sweet — usually when things are very pistachio they are also very sugary, but this one is not sweet. You feel a lot of pistachio and then this little sour acidity of the raspberry that freshens your mouth. A really nice surprise.
