The story

In the heart of Empoli, La Schiacciavineria has earned a devoted following and a stellar 4.8 rating for its focused craft. As “Where The Foodies Go” declared during their Empoli tour, it’s “a fantastic spot for schiacciata with high-quality ingredients and great craft beer, very affordable.” The space leans casual and trendy, perfect for a quick lunch or takeout, and its local-spot energy makes it a clear neighborhood gem.

Two sandwiches stood out in that review: the Schiacciata con Finocchiona, Paté di Tartufo e Pecorino, and the Schiacciata con Tartarina, Pecorino, Cipollina in Agrodolce e Aceto Balsamico. Each showcases the kitchen’s knack for balancing bold, traditional Tuscan ingredients with a modern sandwich sensibility. For a wine-and-schiacciata stop that punches above its price point, this is the address.

AI summary of what 2 dish mentions say about the food

The schiacciata con finocchiona earns raves for its perfect balance of savory fillings. Overall, the food delivers a warm, rustic authenticity that feels both hearty and refined.

Finocchiona is one of my favorite Tuscan cured meats, so as soon as we're here, we go for finocchiona. Obviously it's delicious, but regardless of the filling, the schiacciata itself is really phenomenal. There's an inviting queue as soon as you enter. The schiacciata is really phenomenal.

Since it's hot, I took something light: tartarina, pecorino, sweet and sour onion, and balsamic vinegar. There was also arugula but I had it removed because I'm on a diet. I agree with my colleague on the schiacciata: it's good on its own, but with the tartarina it's good, pure good. The pecorino is good, everything is good. But the schiacciata, though. Look at that little thing, look look. When the onion arrives, it's turned around like that. Don't underestimate the onion. The schiacciata is good, good. Super quality ingredients, and the schiacciata alone is delicious. Really very very good, with an excellent, I say excellent, craft beer whose name I forgot. Including a water for Alessia, we paid €24.
