The story
Tucked away in the heart of Chuo City’s Nihonbashiningyōchō district, Katsuyoshi has earned a reputation for serving some of the most impressive tonkatsu in Tokyo. The restaurant’s signature mille-feuille tonkatsu is a standout, with creator Cosa mangiamo oggi? famously declaring it "the best of their life" and describing the experience as "space stuff." Beyond the main event, the kitchen maintains a focused menu featuring shabumakikatsu, a delicate clam-based miso soup, and a comforting soup stock curry, all of which highlight a commitment to quality over quantity.
Katsuyoshi distinguishes itself by delivering exceptional execution without the typical premium price tag. Its 4.4-star rating reflects a consistent level of value that is increasingly rare in Tokyo’s competitive dining landscape. Whether you are a dedicated tonkatsu enthusiast or simply curious about the mille-feuille preparation, this spot offers a straightforward, satisfying meal that keeps both locals and visitors returning.

AI summary of what 2 dish mentions say about the food
Reviewers praise Katsuyoshi for its impeccably crisp, juicy tonkatsu, served with a warm, no-frills elegance that feels like a genuine homecoming.
“I had the classic pork fillet tonkatsu. The breading is perfect, the meat inside is tender and soft and juicy, not at all dry. It's divine. The sweet, acidic and slightly spicy sauce also makes the cabbage delicious. I'd say we got the place right. The best tonkatsu of my life.”

Shabumakikatsu
Franci had a shabumakikatsu, a sort of mille-feuille meat. Very thin slices of meat cooked in Shabu Shabu then rolled up in the broth and then fried. It's delicious stuff, not dry inside, the pieces are very fatty and very tasty, the meat is very tender, the outside is crunchy. This one is total. It has the characteristics of mine but it's three times more tender, three times fatter, three times more succulent. This one to the nth degree. The best tonkatsu of my life, especially the millefeuille version was space stuff.
