This is a beef steak that's been pounded, breaded, and fried. The breading is made with cornmeal, which gives it a great corn flavor. The gravy is incredible — peppery, creamy, made from milk and the cooking fat. The steak itself is a bit overcooked and chewy from being deep-fried, but the breading and gravy save it. With more gravy it becomes much better, blending all the flavors together. It's greasy, dirty, but satisfying. A fettina panata under steroids.

It's usually served with ice cream, but I didn't ask for it. The strongest flavor is pecan and honey — a full nutty taste. The honey accompanies it happily. It's also warm, which helps a lot. With vanilla ice cream it becomes even better — the ice cream tempers the strong honey and nut flavors, making it last longer in the mouth, fresher and happier. So far, the best dessert I've had in the United States. Not extremely sugary, which I like.
