The story
Tucked away in the Marche region, Da Lore is a historic hotel-bar-restaurant that doubles as an old-school truck stop. With a retro atmosphere and surprisingly professional service, it’s the kind of place where the welcome feels as honest as the cooking. Creator JustUs called it “the most economical trattoria ever,” noting that the food—classic, unfussy, and made with care—belies the modest surroundings.
The menu leans into Italian comfort, with a “nostalgically prepared” carbonara, homemade ravioli, and a simple antipasto platter. For seafood lovers, there’s fried mazzancolle and calamari. The real standout, however, is the bill: JustUs reported an astonishing €40 for two people, including all those dishes. That combination of quality and value makes Da Lore a true hidden gem in the heart of Le Marche.

Reviewers rave about Da Lore's carbonara, calling it a rich, soulful bowl of comfort. The overall vibe is warm and unpretentious, celebrating simple, masterfully executed Italian classics.
“So, this carbonara is a trip back in time. This is how it was made until the second half of the 1980s: spaghetti, egg, parmesan, pecorino, pepper, and pancetta, sometimes sweet sometimes smoked, no guanciale, no carbocrema. The smell isn't bad. You taste the pepper, the cheese, the pancetta. Tasting it, it's an excellent plate of pasta: the pasta is al dente, the saltiness is perfect. In fact, maybe it's better than the carbonara made today, because the one with pecorino and guanciale is more flavorful and gladiator-style, while this one is more delicate. The pancetta is well-toasted, the pasta well-cooked, you taste the pepper and parmesan. It's a top-notch plate of pasta. Call it whatever you want, but it's delicious.”
“We took a trip back in time and we're eating a carbonara from the 80s. I don't mind it, because my mom used to make it like this: egg slightly more cooked, pancetta, al dente spaghetti. This is a good carbonara, a very well-made pasta dish: pancetta is well-toasted, pasta is well-cooked, you can taste the pepper. It's a bit more delicate compared to a modern carbonara, but it's a delicious pasta dish.”

Da Lore is a truck stop trattoria in the heart of Le Marche, with a retro atmosphere and quality food. We had antipasto, homemade ravioli, a traditional-style carbonara, and fried seafood, all delicious. The service is professional and the bill was surprising: €40 for two people. Highly recommended.
Dishes mentioned
Crostino con Paté di Fegato
The bread isn't extremely toasted, it's quite soft, but the paté is at a very good level – delicate, you can smell the aromas, and it's not aggressive. There's none of that overpowering liver taste, which I'm not a fan of. It's a good paté, a six-month one, it's young, just born, they harvested it yesterday.
Ravioli di Ricotta e Spinaci al Burro e Salvia
These large ravioli have a wonderful aroma. They seem homemade. The melted butter, crispy sage, a little spring onion on top, a dusting of parmesan. They remind me of the tortelli from Osteria dei giusti in Tuscany. The filling is very flavorful, the ricotta is fresh, the spinach is barely there but that's not a drawback. The melted butter makes everything more indulgent, the pasta is chewy, definitely homemade, with that fold that gives it a firmer bite that we absolutely love.

Frittura di Mazzancolle e Calamari
The fried seafood has been out for a while but we don't care because of the context. The prawn is shelled, with a small cut on the back to remove the intestine, which is not edible. The squid is a cleaned Patagonian squid, definitely a frozen product but it's the best available on the market. The frying is well done, golden color. A drop of lemon goes well with it. Good.
