What diners say
Synthesized from 36 Google reviews · tap an aspect for the detail
Andersen & Maillard is celebrated for its exceptional pastries, especially the cinnamon croissant, cardamom bun, and pistachio cube croissant, which draw devoted fans. The modern, minimalist space and friendly service create a welcoming atmosphere, though the café can get busy and crowded. Some diners find the coffee inconsistent and the prices high for the portions, but the overall experience remains highly regarded.
Pastries
The pastries are the standout, with the cinnamon croissant, cardamom bun, and pistachio cube croissant frequently praised for their flavor and texture. Many call them the best in Copenhagen, though a few find the sweet pastries too sugary or the fillings less generous than expected.
Coffee
Coffee quality divides opinion: some call it the best in town, while others find the espresso sour or the flat white lacking. The specialty coffee selection is appreciated, but consistency is a noted issue.
Atmosphere & Space
The interior is described as minimalist, modern, and cozy, with a trendy vibe. Outdoor seating is a plus on nice days. However, the café can get very crowded and noisy, and seating is limited during peak times.
Service
Staff are generally friendly, patient, and efficient. A few isolated experiences mention slow service or unhelpful responses, but the overwhelming majority find the service welcoming.
Value
Prices are considered high, even by Copenhagen standards, with some reviewers noting that a single pastry can feel expensive. The card transaction fee is a minor point of contention for some.
Savoury Options
The savoury baked goods, such as the BMO bun and egg salad, are well-received for their quality and flavor. Some find the portions a bit small for a full meal.

Tutti i CUBI di Andersen & Maillard 🥐☕ · @ 0:05
We went back to Andersen & Maillard in Copenhagen to try their new brioche cubes, and they were all delicious, especially the pistachio one.
Dishes mentioned
Cubo alla Cannella
This cinnamon cube is the lightest of the three, but still really good. It's soft and has a nice cinnamon flavour.
Cubo al Cocco con Crema
This coconut cube with cream is heavier, but it's good. The cream is rich and the coconut adds a nice texture.
Cubo al Pistacchio
This pistachio cube is our favourite. It's beautiful, with a creamy filling, crunchy on the outside, and soft inside. Not cheap though — we spent 26 euros for three cubes and two cappuccinos.

Ganache al Cioccolato
This is a pastry filled with chocolate ganache. It's divine, absolutely divine. You must absolutely come and get this one.
Pasta di Burro Caramellata con Cannella e Cardamomo
This one is a caramelised butter pastry with cinnamon and cardamom. They left it square to remember the shape of the butter block that generated it. It's buttery with a bit of cinnamon and lots of cardamom, similar to the one we had at Juno but different.
