Guden is a traditional Ethiopian dish, a type of spicy, slow-cooked meat stew that is a cornerstone of the country's rich culinary heritage. While often compared to the more widely known *wat* or *tsebhi*, guden is distinguished by its intense, concentrated flavor profile, achieved through a lengthy cooking process that melds the ingredients into a deeply savory and aromatic preparation. The dish is typically made with beef or lamb, though variations exist, and is defined by its generous use of *berbere*—a complex spice blend of chili, garlic, ginger, basil, and other spices—and *niter kibbeh*, a spiced clarified butter that lends a distinctive, nutty richness.
